Erotic Vancouver’s Hot Sexy Events Listings
Welcome to Oh Fun City! Erotic Vancouver’s newly renamed Hot Sexy Events Listings. And “Oh Fun City!” isn’t just the name of this column, it’s also the name of our awards for the best events of the year. But you’ll have to wait until Thursday to find out what we thought the best events were!
Have you bought into the “No Fun City” hype? If so we think you’ve only scratched the surface of what Vancouver has to offer. Perhaps looking for night life you’ve ventured no further than the Granville Entertainment District, an admittedly poor planning decision on the part of the city. But even there some amazing things have been happening – our cities vibrant and spectacular burlesque scene has made appearances on the strip, fetish night Sin City briefly held regular parties at The Fan Club, and their Anniversary extravaganza last summer at The Commodore—if even Granville can be sexy, you know Vancouver is on an upswing.
Speaking of burlesque, our scene isn’t just burgeoning and vibrant, it’s widely recognized as one of North America’s best! The nerdlesque scene that has sprung from it similarly is world class, and it’s attracting out many individuals who had never attended a burlesque performance before. The recent show Star Wars: A Nude Hope sold out it’s initial run, and then added two more shows! That’s four sold out events, and not in a club, but the Rio Theatre! Four times.
Our fetish scene hosts parties that would stack up to those of New York, San Francisco and Montreal – widely recognized as the centres of kink on our continent. Local dungeon group Metro Vancouver Kink hosts it’s monthly parties in a space that was previously used by the BDSM scene for their kinky conferences – and their annual WestCoast Bound Conference happening in February might attract a fraction of the numbers the biggest conferences do, it certainly equals them in the quality of the presenters and the enthusiasm of the attendees! And while MVK is the gold standard for kink in our city, there are a great many other groups doing good things, from the venerable Rascal’s Dungeon Parties, to newcomers such as the Vertigo Rope group that specializes in bondage performances, and which has been appearing to rave reviews at dungeon events and fetish nights alike.
The swingers scene might not be as widely lauded as those others, but it’s certainly something to write home about, although perhaps not to mom! Club Eden and Club Allure have long set the standard for quality in the local swingers scene, but Club Hush and other new entries are looking to equal or exceed the bar that’s been set, and with more and more people willing to explore non-monogamous relationships expect that scene to grow even more in the coming years.
“Oh Fun City!” Here at Erotic Vancouver we’re confident that if you choose to start exploring some of the events you’ll find written about in this column each week, or listed on our calendar, that soon that phrase will come rolling off your tongue easily, and that you’ll have left behind not just the prhase, but he idea that our city is no fun.
Now read on to figure out where you’re going to start that fun in 2014!

Wednesday, January 8
Where: Yagger’s Pub, 433 W. Pender, Vancouver
Vancouver’s Poly 101 Group began as a monthly discussion night to address the questions, concerns, pitfalls and benefits of those exploring polyamory. From that it’s grown into a vibrant social group that meets twice monthly for discussions, and semi-regularly for pub nights.
This week’s discussion tackles the subject of when relationships end. When a monogamous relationship ends it’s difficult and leaves you alone, and while having a poly relationship ends means you have the the support of another partner or partners, you also have the responsibilities of those other relationships to tend to. Come hear how others have managed, and about the many, many success stories of poly relationships that in ending became some amazing friendhips.
The discussion takes place at Yagger’s Pub. The Poly 101 group meets in a private back room, so when you arrive just head to the back, and you can’t miss it. People usually begin arriving about 6:00pm, and the discussion gets under way promptly at 6:30.

Where: Erotic Vancouver, online
2013 is behind us now, but we hope it left you all with some very sexy memories—here at Erotic Vancouver we know we have more than a few! This Thursday we’ll be announcing those sexy memories we just can’t shake, those that have stuck with us in a very good way. Perhaps we went into the experience expecting nothing more than a one night stand, only to have upgraded it to relationship material. Or perhaps it was something we always knew we would love, but found the depth of it unexpected.
Improv Against Hummanity
Where: The Rio Theatre, 1660 E. Broadway, Vancouver
Improv troupe The Fictionals host their “first horrible comedy show of the new year” and we say that in a very happy way! If you’re familiar with the self published card game sensation “Cards Against Humanity” then you have some idea of how Improv Against Humanity works already. Audience members are invited up to play the game, and the winning selection from each hand will become the subject of an improv script by the troupe.
As the warning says “May contain some strong language, sexual content and mature themes.” In the interest of truth in advertising you should replace the words “May contain” with “Definitely expect.”
If you haven’t experienced Improv Against Humanity yet you’ve been missing out on one of the funniest regular shows our city has to offer. See it!
Where: Vancouver FanClub, 1050 Granville, Vancouver
From the group that brought you Beatles Burlesque… Tarantino Burlesque is a live-music burlesque show featuring music from Tarantino movie soundtracks and burlesque inspired by the movies — from Pulp Fiction to Death Proof.
This is a gritty and high-energy production featuring some Vancouver’s best burlesque performers, including: Little Miss Risk, Voodoo Pixie, Sparkle Plenty, Mama Fortuna, and Ariel Helvetica. It’s all hosted by Fairlith Harvey of Geekenders, just off of her fabulous run of Star Wars: A Nude Hope.
Saturday, January 11
Where: Imperial, 319 Main Street, Vancouver
In 2013 Vancouver’s fetish scene took things to a new level with some exciting new venues, and one of those was most definitely Imperial on Main Street. A former kung fu theatre that underwent a multi-million dollar renovation, itis now one the city’s sought after special event spaces, and you know the Sin City crew will be sure to put it to great use.
For the Wild Kingdom Party you can expect lots of animal inspired fetish outfits, with no doubt the occasional wild game hunter thrown in for good measure! While matching the theme is always optional (and always fun) the only thing actually required is that your outfit be fetish, so be sure to check out the night’s strict fetish dress code before venturing out for your first time.
Sunday, January 12
Where: Biltmore Cabaret, 2755 Princess Street, Vancouver
When: Doors 8:00pm Show 9:00pm
Since Hot Sexy Events (the predecessor to the Oh Fun City! column) one event has graced this space more than any other – Kitty Nights. That’s because Canada’s most famous burlesque night is certainly one of the best things in town you can do in any given week, and because when it comes to hot and sexy you don’t have a lot to choose from on Sunday night.
Mind you, that might be because everyone who generally throws those sexy sorts of events can often be found at Kitty Nights! They know there’s no better way to end the weekend.
As the evening rapidly closes in on it’s 6th Anniversary Celebration they’re holding a show where everyone who ever bought or one a piece of Kitty Nights’ attire is invited to wear it out this Sunday so a special group photo can be taken of everyone in theirs. In return all those kitty attired folks will receive a special Pre-Anniversary Goody Bag.
And of course there will plenty of talented kitties to see gracing the Biltmore’s stage. The evening’s line up is Ariel Helvetica, Vanity Feral, Chastity Twist, and Burgundy Brixx. As always the show is hosted by the hilarious The Purrrfessor, and the burlesque fun is followed by a retro-sexy dance party.
Thursday, January 16 you can look for a special Oh Fun City! column listing all of the events we’re most looking forward to in 2014, but for now we wanted to share with you the one Erotic Vancouver editor Reive is most looking forward to in the coming month.
Westcoast Bound is Metro Vancouver Kink’s signature event of the year. This kinky conference isn’t just Vancouver’s most exciting and authentic and kinky event of the year, it’s undoubtedly the finest in Western Canada, and north of Oregon’s Kink Fest.
If you’ve been struck by the 50 Shades of Grey craze, or if you’ve attended a Sin City or NOIR Fetish Ball and wanted to learn more about some of the exciting kinky play you’ve seen or read about, then there is NO BETTER PLACE than at Westcoast Bound.
Metro Vancouver Kink is unquestionably the gold standard for BDSM locally, and this conference is the jewel in their golden crown.
That’s it for our first Oh Fun City! column. Be sure to check back on Thursday, January 9 for our picks of last year’s best events, and then the week following that for what we think will be the best events of 2014.
And of course every Monday you’ll find our regular Oh Fun City! column listing the best Hot Sexy Events for the 7 days ahead.
Now go and start living your sexy new year’s resolutions.
