Fifty Shades has everybody talking but gets a lot of BDSM wrong. MVK & SFU are setting the record straight with a public discussion on April 9th at the SFU Harbour Centre, Room 1600 and you’re invited to be part of it along with world-leaders in kink & sexuality.

Because the Fifty Shades of Grey books have been translated into 52 languages and sold 100 million copies worldwide. They are showing the world what BDSM is like.

Because the Fifty Shades of Grey movie is a global phenomenon – attracting worldwide attention through its portrayal of BDSM and the kink lifestyle.

Because both the books and movie portray kink in ways that are inaccurate and unfair to members of the BDSM Community and to anybody who engages in, or wants to engage in, BDSM activity in any aspect of their life.

Metro Vancouver Kink (MVK) and SFU’s Department of Gender, Sexuality and Women’s Studies are teaming up to “Talk back” to Fifty Shades of Grey with the real deal on BDSM and how real-life practitioners get their kink on.

The discussion will cover topics from master/slave relationships to rope bondage, whips & chains and consent negotiation.

There will be real talk about kinky sex and play from people who live the lifestyle.

And, you’ll be free to ask questions on anything and everything you’ve always wanted to know.

Guests for the discussion include:
Liam Helmer – Rope Performance Artist & BDSM Consultant to the Fifty Shades of Grey movie
Sara Blaze – Sex Positive Activist, Community Organizer & President of Metro Vancouver Kink
Reive Doig – Sex Positive Activist, Publisher of Erotic Vancouver & BDSM Consultant to The L-Word and Smallville
