They say that March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb – but based on the events of the week ahead it’s hard to argue there is anything sheepish about it! Once gain comedy, burlesque, fetish and more are all represented. So the next time somebody tries to tell you that Vancouver is “No Fun City” be sure to tell them that, in fact, it’s actually “Oh Fun City!” And as proof be sure to steer them towards Erotic Vancouver Magazine and our weekly Hot Sexy Events column!
Regular readers of this column knows that here at Erotic Vancouver we’re big fans of The Fictionals, presenters of regular Tuesday night comedy at Cafe Deux Soleils. Their Show Us Your Wits evenings combine improv & burlesque, and usually feature some of Vancouver’s best performers of each.
This Tuesday’s show features burlesque performers Jemma Riot and Trixi Hobbises, and guest comedian Jay Ono of the Vancouver Theatre Sports League joining The Fictionals cast for improv madness

Wednesday, March 27-May 22: Becoming Burlesque
Where: Screaming Chicken Theatrical Society, 2280 E. Hastings, Vancouver
Becoming Burlesque is a two month intensive workshop series that culminates in a final Graduation Recital. This class covers everything one need to know to get their start as burlesque performer including: dance and movement; comedy; hair, makeup and costuming; lighting, sound and tech; and professionalism.
Classes are held weekly (day depends on the session) from 7:30pm-10pm, with the first half of class spent learning a skill and the second half applying that skill towards the building of the graduation show.
Your tuition includes a fabulous, hand tailored burlesque outfit including pasties, glamour photos and bonus personal studio time with one of our fabulous instructors to workshop your solo burlesque act. At $550 this might not be the cheapest way to get into burlesque, but ask anyone who has learned the burlesque craft from Screaming Chicken and you’ll rapidly conclude it’s amongst the best educations on offer.

Wednesday, March 27: Robe Night
Where: Private residence, Burnaby, exact address available to attendees
Greater Vancouver’s kink scene boasts a vibrant peer-to-peer teaching rope bondage scene, and perhaps the best attended of these regularly organized evenings is Rope Night. This week they tackle “The Karada,” a tie which has become virtually synonymous with the Japanese style of rope bondage commonly known as “Shibari.” As the organizer of Rope Night describes it: “It is a favorite of some of the best riggers available and has been a big part of many of the best bondage pictures on the internet. In spite of it’s epic legacy, the Karada is one of the simplest bondage patterns in the Shibari tradition. It is often one of the first ties new riggers learn and is often recommend as a starting tie for inexperienced rope bottoms.”
For more information on the evening you can check out its Fetlife event listing. Please note: in order to view this or any other Fetlife event listing a free membership to the site is required. Fetlife is the kinksters’ social network, Facebook for fetishists, as it were. Alternately you can email the organizer via email@example.com
RUFF has been throwing events celebrating men who love (and lust for ) their men RUFF for a year now, and to celebrate that first anniversary they’re throwing a party at Vinyl Retro Lounge.

Erotic Vancvouver doesn’t often bring you news of store sales, and in fact this is only the second one, but as more and more people have been asking us where they can get something sexy to wear suitable for swingers parties, fetish nights, and just for home in the bedroom, we’ve decided we shouldn’t just be letting you know where you can get those things via our listings pages for Sex Shops and for Clothing Stores, but also when you can get some deals at those same stores!
We’re happy to be introducing this with a store that is one that gives back to our sexy community, as a sponsor of both local fetish nights, NOIR and Sin City, as well as a regular sponsor of other events including burlesque.
So head out and support one of the stores that’s supporting community, and while you’re at it get yourself something hot to wear out – perhaps to Sin City’s Opening Night at Fan Club, which is happening just one block up the street on Saturday night.
You’ll find details on the sale here on Facebook. After you’ve visited them if you like what you see (and we’re pretty sure you will) you might want to show your appreciation by liking them on Facebook here.
Vancouver’s longest running fetish night finds themselves in new digs, and what digs they are! Fan Club is a little bit of New Orleans located in the heart of Vancouver’s Granville Entertainment District. In fact it doesn’t just look like it could be from Louisiana, some of it actually is, with the French Colonial Doors and antique chandeliers having been imported from there.
And with Sin City in Fan Club one other thing we know is going to feel very New Orleans about the venue is the Big Easy attitude of Anything Goes!
Granville Street officially just got cool again! And just in case you were worried about the fact that Sin City is happening on Granville never fear – they are blacking out the entire front of the club and it will have no access from the Granville Side, nor will the interior of the club be visible from that side. There is a small parking lot on Seymour which you can walk through to gain access from the backside of the club.
You’ll find all the info you need to know, including the Fetish Dress Code of the night, here on Facebook.
If you’re looking for something a little less spiritual to do on Easter evening, although likely to cause some rising of it’s own, check out Vancouver’s Sunday night staple, and the city’s best known burlesque evening, Kitty Nights for their special brand of sexy celebration.
Featuring special guest host Banche Debris, all the way from Las Vegas, and 2011’s King of Burlesque, Australia’s own Captain Kidd. Plus enjoy home grown Vancouver talents Villainy Loveless, Rebel Valentine (plus 1!) and Suicide Stacy. With half time go-go bunny Miss Kiss.
Rumour had it that East Vancouver’s signature drag show Apcolaypstick had called it quits, but we’re happy to report that news of its death was premature! Apocalypstick returns on long weekend Sundays, and for Easter, and what says “Easter!” to a Drag Queen more than Disney’s “The Little Mermaid.” Nothing, that’s what!
Details on the night can be found on their Facebook event listing.
Last week we told you about the upcoming Rubbout weekend, Vancouver’s longest consistently running fetish or kink event of any kind, and North America’s longest running Rubber weekend. While the is billed as “a party weekend of rubber and fetish for men,” some of the events are open to everyone – including the Saturday afternoon Puppy Play Party. It’s an opportunity to explore your inner puppy or just to watch others exploring theirs!
The afternoon of Saturday, April 13 promises more fun than you can shake a stick at, or throw-one-for for that matter, with a puppy mosh, puppy training, and a “best in show” fun contest! Once again this year the Master of Ceremonies for the contest is Erotic Vancouver’s own editor, Reive!
You’ll find more dog-gone details here on Facebook.
