Hot Sexy Events: July 23-29
Erotic Vancouver apologizes for the (once again) late arrival of Hot Sexy Events here on the site. On that note, E.V. is looking for an Events Editor. The position doesn’t pay much, but you’ll be one of the cool kids on the sexy playground, and possible even finagle a few free tickets to events! You’ll find more info at the end of this column.
Now, without further ado, onto the week’s events.
Thursday, July 26 the incomparable Burgundy Brix presents two classes at the Vancouver Burlesque Centre. First up, from 7-8pm is Intro to Fan Dance. Learn why Sally Rand drove America into a frenzy at the 1934 Worlds’ Fair and why contemporary artists like Dita Von Teese, Dirty Martini and Michelle L’Amour continue to mesmerize their audiences with this unique art form today.
Then from 8-9pm Burgundy presents Boa Basics. There’s a lot more you can do with a feather boa than accessorize an outfit! Learn burlesque boa handling, saucy moves and choreography in this fun and feathery class.
Class sizes are limited to 6 and 8 respectively. You’ll find more info on the Vancouver Burlesque Centre’s site.
Also happening on Thursday night is XXXMAS in July.
Do you like strippers?
Do you like Christmas?
Do you like cheap drinks?
Do you like donating money to a good cause?
If you answered yes to two or more of those questions then this is the night for you!
Vivacious vixens Samantha Mack and Liv Lethal went to Mexico earlier this year, along with photographer Judy Chin. By day three of the trip-we-wish-we’d-been-invited-on-but-weren’t (no hard feelings, girls) they’d decided to return to the country for Xmas to build a house for an impoverished family in Vicente Guerrero. XXXMAS in July is the first fundraiser to help make that goal happen.
So head on down to The Penthouse from 8pm until 2am for some Christmas cheer. Further details can be found on Facebook.
Friday July 27 Geeks After Dark presents 50 Shades of Grey Episode II! Crap and Double Crap. Frequent readers of this column will know that here at Erotic Vancouver we can’t get enough of GAD. That’s because we work every night they have an event. Would it kill you to do something on a Tuesday or Wednesday just once, guys? Would it?
Anyway, forget everything you’ve heard about how horrible the novel 50 Shades of Grey is. I mean, yes, it’s true, it’s horrible, but forget all that, because as presented by Geeks After Dark it’s also hilarious.
If you’ve seen a Geeks After Dark presentation before we know you’re now frantically trying to cancel whatever other plans you might have made for Friday night. If you haven’t, then you haven’t truly lived, and you may die not knowing the meaning of true laughter. Go already!
Details can be found on their Facebook event listing.
Looking to get into the swing of things? Saturday, July 28, Club Allure presents another infamous XXX Party. Described as a social club for secure couples passionate about fun, Allure always promises a good time (wink wink, nudge nudge) and their XXX parties promise “some advanced fun with more experienced couples and singles.” We’re not sure exactly what that means, but just the mention of shag tags has us curious enough to find out! Details at the Club Allure website.
Our final listing this week is for what’s commonly listed amongst the kinky crowd as not just one of the events of the summer, but one of the events of the year! This Saturday, July 28 is the Sin City 11 Year Anniversary Sextravaganza.
In past years you wouldn’t even be able to get a ticket at this point, but you tardy tawdry people are in luck as a few tickets remain for sale at select stores. But you better hit the phones and then get your asses down to whichever stores might still have a few tickets left, because come Saturday you won’t be able to beg, borrow or steal a ticket to get you in the door. (Well, maybe you could steal one, but that would make you a bad person.)
For more details visit their Facebook event listing or the Sin City website.
Erotic Vancouver seeking Events Editor
Between a full time job, returning to school full time in September, and running the NOIR Fetish Ball, Erotic Vancouver’s editor Reive (that would be me) is finding that preparing the list of Hot Sexy Events each week is a chore often left undone longer than it should be. And maintaining the calendar itself, well, it’s kind of embarrassing.
So it is that Erotic Vancouver is seeking an Events Editor. Someone for a passion for sharing information about the local sex-positive community, ideally with a little humour thrown in. Burlesque, kink, swing, we want our readers to know about it all.
The rewards? The satisfaction of a job well done, the admiration and respect of your peers, free tickets to the occasional event, and the slobbering gratitude of this editor. All of this for a job that shouldn’t require more than a couple of hours a week. If you’re interested please write to Reive (at sign) EroticVancouver.com
