Hot Sexy Events: December 3-9
It’s the first full week of December and the holiday season is upon us. As thoughts turn more to family festivities than to frisky, frolicking fun the local Alt-sex scene often slows down…but not quite yet.
This week starts off slow, but the weekend arrives with a bang! Saturday, in particular, is full of great events to choose from. You can expect to find your Erotic Vancouver editor, Reive, out celebrating his birthday on Saturday night at We Fink U Freeky & We Like U A Lot (details below) although he may make an appearance at East Van Pillow Fight Club in time for the title bout!
In addition to all of the events listed in Hot Sexy Events, the Erotic Vancouver Calendar is now available to event organizers to help promote their events. If you’ve got a one-off event let us know here at Erotic Vancouver and we’ll be sure to get it added to the calendar. If you regularly put on events, contact us for a log in and you can add them to the calendar. Best of all, it’s absolutely free, and you’ll have the opportunity to reach Erotic Vancouver Magazine’s thousands of visitors each month.
Now read on for the weeks list of Hot Sexy Events.
Tuesday, December 4: Top Shelf
Where: Lord Braven’s, location near Metrotown available to attendees
Hosted by Lord Braven at his residence in Burnaby, each month Top Shelf offer the opportunity for kinksters to discuss a different kinky subject in depth. This month’s topic is the difference between BDSM play and Leather play, following on the heels of a presentation at the Leather Reign Conference held last month in Seattle.
The presenter, Dr. Robert Rubel, is of the opinion that most BDSM play scenes in public venues are WYSIWYG–what you see is what you get–a flogging scene is a flogging scene, a needle scene is a needle scene, etc., with little if anything happening at higher or deeper levels. In comparison, he sees Leather scenes as happening between intimate partners where there is a purposeful journey toward a goal.
Weigh in with your thoughts on the matter and hear those of local kinksters in a fun, thoughtful, and non-judgemental environment.
To RSVP and for more details visit the Top Shelf Fetlife event listing.
Please note: In order to view event listings and other information on Fetlife you’ll need a free membership to this kinky social network. Wherever possible, Erotic Vancouver has Facebook event listings instead of, or in addition to, Fetlife ones, but many local kinky events don’t list on Facebook.
A munch is a casual, no stress dinner gathering for the kink-minded and kink-curious to get together and join in discussion. There are several held around the lower mainland over the course of each month and you can find a complete list of BC Munches here on Fetlife.
The Vancouver Westside Munch is presented by the non-profit kink organization Metro Vancouver Kink. If you’re a regular reader of Erotic Vancouver you know we can’t say enough great things about MVK here. Quite simply when it comes to education, community service, and great, kinky, fun times they set the bar in this town, and they set it high!
If you’re looking to learn more about what it is that they do, and why so many people are choosing to do it with them, then this munch is just the place for you. On the other hand, if you’re completely comfortable in your kinky skin you’ll still find lots of things to discuss at this Munch, held the 1st Wednesday of every month.
Eastside eatery Falconetti’s presents a new evening of live music and burlesque on the first Wednesday of each month. Join them for their second edition as MC Mz B Haven and music act Return of the Stern are joined by three busty burlesque beauties: Diamond Minx, Dolly Dynamit E and Vanity Feral.
In addition to being a rousing good time, this evening also marks the birthday of host Mz B Haven, so come out to raise a glass in celebration. There’s no cover, the food is great, and the night promises to be one to remember.
If you’re looking for some great sexy entertainment AND the chance to contribute to a worthy cause this Friday evening, then have we got the event for you! That’s F*cked! is a burlesque show and adoption fundraiser. Specifically it’s a fundraiser for an adoption that shouldn’t even be necessary, but due to the backwards policies of our provincial government, it is.
The show’s producers are a married gay couple whose child was born Oct 10. Recently they found out that, despite being able to list the non-birth mom on the birth certificate, they would still have to shell out thousands of dollars to ensure her legal parental rights.
In BC, if two women are married and one gets pregnant with an unknown donor, the other mom still needs to go through an adoption to get parental rights. Even when the biological father is unknown. Even when they’ve been married for years.
As the couple and event description itself put it, “It really is that f*cked up!”
While the situation might be a mess, the event line up is anything but! Featuring some of the most twisted and strange performances from local burlesque and drag performers (in no particular order): April O’Peel, Sparkle Plenty, Villainy Loveless, Darla Devine, Jenny Magenta, Ponyboy, Sherry Hymen, Spooksy Delune, Burgundy Brixx, and Socra Tease. All hosted by The Purrrfessor, from Canada’s most popular burlesque show, Kitty Nights West.
You’ll find more details on That’s F*cked! here on Facebook.
Vancouver’s last porn theatre, and possibly the last full-time 35mm porn theatre in North America, always seems to be in danger of closing its doors—whether it’s because of the glut of cheap and free porn available over the internet, or because city council and the local BIA are up in arms over the fact that some folks don’t simply enjoy the sex on screen there. In any case it’s questionable whether this 29 year old Vancouver institution will be around another 3 seasons, let alone another 3 decades, so you might not get too many chances to check this out in the company of some friendly local kinksters beyond this Friday.
Organized by a well-known local Fetish model, the evening promises to be to be an interesting one. She recommends you bring a garbage bag to sit on because, well, we’ll let you read a little about The Fox on Yelp and you’ll know why. However, before you let that turn you off you should know that this local fetish model is hoping for a night more akin to this one described on Fetlife.
Ticket prices are $12-20 depending on where you sit. The fun gets under way at The Fox at 9pm, and if you’re curious to see in advance whom you’ll be joining at the theatre, a group of attendees is meeting up at The Wallflower, located just one block from the theatre, at 2420 Main Street, at 8pm.
For more details on this event visit the Fetlife event listing.
Saturday, December 8: River Dark Intensive
Time: 9:30am-6pm – 3 separate classes, individually attendable
Vancouver’s premiere organizers of kink education, Metro Vancouver Kink, proudly present one of the city’s kinky legends, River Dark, as she presents on three kinky topics over the course of the day.
Care and Feeding of the Top takes a look at the psychological pressures of being a Top, and how bottoms can support and encourage their Tops while still taking care of themselves.
Edge of Madness: Fear and Terror Play is an exploration of the edgy type of play. What are they? When is terror play the same as edge play and when is it a different animal altogether? Over the course of three hours River will attempt to answer these questions and more.
Beyond the Fantasy: Maintaining the Master/slave dynamic asks “Does love ruin everything?” Can one maintain the dynamic once the Master starts caring for the slave or the slave falls in love with the Master?
Tickets are $20 for individual workshops, or $45 for all three.
Vancouver has a vibrant polyamory community and this Saturday they come together to celebrate the season. While they welcome newcomers and those curious about poly, please be aware that this is a private party. If you’re respectful of the ideas behind polyamory, and recognize that there are distinct differences from swing and some other corners of the alt-sex scene, you’re going to meet some fabulous new friends here.
Who knows? Perhaps down the line they’ll be more than simply your friends.
For more information and to RSVP you’ll need to be a member of the Vancouver Polyamory group on Facebook. Once you have asked to join the group and been approved you can view the Facebook event listing.
The GlassCity Collective is an artist run network of talented individuals, operating out of the East Village Factory in Vancouver. While normally you might find these talented individuals gracing the stages of other local events, this Saturday they open their new GlassCity Studio-Salon space inside the Factory for a holiday open house fundraiser.
Featuring DJs R-Lex and Contrasoma from I DIE: YOU DIE.
Performers over the course of the night include:
Tiffi Truth, Industrial Blues Grind Artist
Vesper Sephony, fire performance
Burns the Dragon, freak show
& burlesque performances by: Jenny Magenta, Luscious Ness, Pocket Venus and Maggie Pie
plus rope work/suspensions by: ziicka, Delilah Diabolic, LizBit and Davonna.
Admission is only $10, and tickets are available in advance and at the door until they fill up! This event is BYOB, and conveniently the Princeton Cold Beer & Wine Store is located right across the street. The concession will be selling non-alcoholic drinks, while supplies last.
Recommended dress for the evening is Sexy, Classy & Sassy. Fetish attire, black tie, the perfect cocktail dress for man or woman—if you’d refer to it as “dressing up,” then you’re good to go this evening.
Plus look for your Erotic Vancouver editor Reive to be celebrating his birthday here in style.
That’s right, folks, there’s a Pillow Fight Club! Go. Really? Do you need to know any more?
Alright. They’ve got a card (see, that’s us using the boxing jargon we know) of four fights.
The Butcher’s Daughter vs Blondie Bedlam (Main Event)
Miss Treats vs Flame Edna
The Iron Maiden vs Tinker Hell
Dusty Exner vs Hankey Plankey (Battle of the Rooks)
This promises to be a fight night quite unlike any other in Vancouver history! With a silent auction and charity raffle for the Vancouver Rape Relief and Women’s Shelter.
Saturday, December 8: Den of Pleasure XXXmas Party
Where: Den of Pleasure (RSVP for details)
News of the demise of local swing/BDSM club Den of Pleasure turned out to be rather premature. Since announcing that they’d be closing their doors last summer they’ve been persuaded to still hold the occasional special event. Given the less frequent nature of these parties they’ve become even harder to get into, and this Saturday’s XXXmas Party is no exception. In fact, the event is already full up, but being that it’s the holiday season there’s sure to be a few last minute cancellations so some of the folks on the wait list may get in. If you’d like to be one of them try to RSVP now!
More details can be found here on Fetlife.
The last event you’ll find here on the week’s Hot Sexy Events is another Vancouver institution. A FullerStine’s Production, the wonderful duo, Janine Fuller (manager of Little Sister’s) and Julie Stines (aka drag king extrordinaire Buster Cherry) are bringing their charity extravaganza to Vancouver’s West End for the 23rd year running!
This event isn’t so much Hot & Sexy as it promises to be HILARIOUS & Sexy!
The night features a line up of extraordinary performers: Bill Munroe, Buster Cherry, Carlotta Gurl, Coco, Connie Smudge, Edward, Joan E, Mandy Kamp, Owen, Princess Sparkleberry, Raye Sunshine, ‘T’, Vera Way, and Iona Whipp.
All proceeds this year to benefit Rumble Productions, The D.M.S. Charities, Friends For Life, The Greater Vancouver Food Banks and Vancouver Orphan Kitten Rescue (VOKRA). In addition, donations of toys and toiletries on behalf of the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre are gratefully accepted.
You’ll find all the details at their Facebook event listing.
That’s it for another week of Hot Sexy Events. Be sure to check back next week to find out what else the festive season has to offer, as we bring you news of Master Geek Theatre’s The Chamber of Hotness, The Wet Spots’ Eastside Spectacular Family Christmas (trust us, you won’t want to bring younger members of the family out to this night) and more.
