Well, Erotic Vancouver finds itself on Santa’s Naughty list after letting last week go by without a Hot Sexy Events Column. And we were really, really hoping for something other than coal in our stockings.
But never fear, this week we’re back, and we’ve got some listings for you both naughty and nice! And there’s more than one event at which you can fill your own stockings. Plus this week is a little unusual in that where usually it’s easy to find great events happening on the weekend, as Xmas grows nearer it’s the early part of this week where you’ll find the most going on.
So read on to find out the season has in store.
Happening All Month
Kink Cares Winter Charity Drive
Tis the season for giving, and Vancouver’s alt-sex communities have opened their kinky hearts to provide to those less fortunate than themselves. Begun in 2010, Kink Cares is actually a continuation of a blanket drive begun more than a decade earlier by Scott Peters, who also happens to be one of EV’s newest columnists. The goal of the drive is to provide warm blankets and jackets to the Lookout Aid Society, which will then distribute them to the homeless. If blankets are suitable for outdoor use (we’ll tell you which ones are) then they’ll be given to those individuals unable to get into a shelter, or who do not want to access one; blankets unsuitable for outdoor use (cotton and cotton blend ones, for instance) can be used in Lookout’s shelters.
This year Kink Cares is the biggest endeavour it’s been yet, with Club Eden, Den of Pleasure, House of Secrets, Metro Vancouver Kink, and NOIR Fetish Ball (and their NOIR Presents nights too) all participating.
If you’re going to donate a blanket it ideally should be a synthetic one. Wool ones are great too, but they are prohibitively expensive. Cotton and cotton blend blankets do not retain warmth once wet, and actually can cool the body, making them dangerous for use in this weather by the homeless.
Upcoming Kink Cares Events are listed here.

MVK Newbie Munch
Where: The Tipper, 2066 Kingsway, Vancouver
Are you new to the kink scene, and want to meet people?
Interested in going to a BDSM play party, but aren’t sure what to expect (or wear, or do…)?
Want to gush about an experience that was new to you, to understanding ears?
Curious about what real kinky lifestyles and relationships are like, beyond what you’ve read in recent blockbuster novels?
Then the Newbie Munch is just the right place for you!
A munch is a casual dinner gathering at a public restaurant that allows people to get to know each other in a low-pressure environment. Folks don’t dress up in party clothes, and no play happens. It’s just dinner with kinky-minded people! Munches are a great way to meet people so that you know someone when you go to parties!
Although this event is targeted at people who are new to the scene, more experienced players are welcome as well (as someone will need to answer all those questions!!). This would be a great place to bring friends who’ve expressed interest but aren’t sure about jumping into attending a party!
This Ain’t Yo Mumma’s Bingo
Where: The Pint, 455 Abbot Street, Vancouver
Join bawdy babe hosts Villainy Loveless and Just Call Her Heather on this new night at their new home with-the-still-new-smell, The Pint, for this outrageous weekly night of fun. Every Monday, with prizes every game, and some of the craziest bingo you’ll ever experience. Plus experience their “Magic Balls.” When one is drawn you can expect funny, silly and sexy things to happen, offering you a chance to win bonus prizes and free drinks!
The action gets under way at 9pm, but get there early to ensure you get a good table.

The Punk Singer: A Film About Kathleen Hana
Where: The Rio Theatre, 1660 East Broadway, Vancouver
The Rio Theatre stellar line up of recent documentaries continues with one fo the most critically acclaimed music documentaries of the year, The Punk Singer.
Kathleen Hanna, lead singer of the punk band Bikini Kill and dance-punk trio Le Tigre, rose to national attention as the reluctant but never shy voice of the riot grrrl movement. She became one of the most famously outspoken feminist icons, a cultural lightning rod. Her critics wished she would just shut-up, and her fans hoped she never would. So in 2005, when Hanna stopped shouting, many wondered why. Through 20 years of archival footage* and intimate interviews with Hanna, THE PUNK SINGER takes viewers on a fascinating tour of contemporary music and offers a never-before-seen view into the life of this fearless leader.
Dr. Sketchy’s The Ghost of Christmas Past

A Spirit will be visiting us this Dr Sketchy’s! Local burlesque star Spooksy DeLune will haunt us for our wicked ways, bring your pencils and sketchbooks, and be ready to repent.
Dr Sketchy’s Anti Art School is what happens when a simple question is asked- why can’t figure drawing be sexy? Part art class, part cabaret, join us for 3 hours of drinking, drawing and decadence!
Improv Against Humanity
Where: Cafe Deux Soleils, 2096 Commercial Drive, Vancouver
Earlier this year Improv Against Humanity: An Interactive Comedy Show for Horrible People moved from it’s original home at Cafe Deux Soleil to the Rio Theatre, where it has regularly played to packed houses. Early attendees have delighted in gloating of tales of the early, more intimate days of the show whenever they met someone who had only seen the Rio shows.
Well, if you’re one of those who came to the party late, now’s your chance to catch the show in it’s original, intimate setting at Cafe Deux Soleils as a scheduling conflict keeps them out of their new home at The Rio – or so show originator Daniel Chai claims! We think they’ve been suspended for some truly, truly horrible thing he probably did.
If you’re familiar with the game Cards Against Humanity you’ll have some idea of how this all works – now just imagine the winning phrase each hand being acted out by one of the cities funniest improv troupes.
So why is this a Hot Sexy Event? Well, if you’ve ever played CAH you know that there are a lot of dirty minds out there, and more often than not the answers they come up with tend to win!

What’s New Pussycat?
Where: The Biltmore Cabaret, 2755 Prince Edward Street, Vancouver
When: Doors 8:00pm Show 9:00pm
The week of acting legend Peter O’Toole’s death seems the perfect time to take in this show dually named for his hit comedy and it’s theme song by Tom Jones. But nostalgia isn’t the real reason to take in this show, which truly is about what’s new and hot.
Kitty Nights has committed to nurturing and showcasing new talent, and the result is this bi-monthly showcase of brand new burlesque performers. Come cheer on these dynamic and delightful performers in this evening celebrating fresh faces and titillating tease!
The evening’s new talents are: Valkyrie Vixen, Marie Curious, Faye Havoc, Dee Lushious, Honey Sweet, Audrey Marx, Rocket Apollo, and The Cherry Bombs!
So what, you ask, does the poster here have to do with Wednesday night’s show? Absolutely nothing, but the actual show poster didn’t fit our format and, well, it features Peter O’Toole. Enough said!

Poly 101 Discussion – Open Mic Night
Where: Yaggers Pub, 433 West Pender Street
With the holiday season fast approaching and with people running this, that and the other way getting ready for work functions, family functions, present buying, and everything else that goes along with the craziness that is the holiday season, the Poly 101 Group isn’t anticipating the usual horde that comes to their bi-monthly discussion. That said, there’s still some interest in having a discussion this month, so that’s just what they’re going to do. But rather than setting a topic, as they do most months, they instead encourage everyone (and yes, that means YOU!) to arrive with a topic or question to talk about.
With no specific topic to discuss this month, past attendees are encouraged to bring anything and everything that’s been on the tip of their tongues for the past few discussions, but that they may have felt was appropriate for that month’s topic.
If you’ve been thinking of checking out the Poly 101 Discussions, which is open to all who are into or interested in polyamory, but were daunted by such a big gathering this might be the perfect time for you to check them out, at this smaller (dare we say, more intimate) gathering.
And of course if you’ve been to a Poly 101 Discussion before you already know what a great and welcoming group of people it attracts.
As always the discussion will be held at Yagger’s Pub located at 433 West Pender St. The groups meets in a private back room, so when you come in just head to the back. People begin arriving bout 6pm, and the discussion gets under way at 630.
So if you’re interested check it out. And of course, since it’s a poly group, feel free to bring a friend!
The Poly 101 listings on Facebook are private. If you’d like to be able to access them talk to the event organizers when you attend a discussion night.
Friday, December 20
Where: Lord Braven’s Home, near Brentwood, address available to attendees
Sometime in the past couple of years rope bondage turned into the big thing in the BDSM world, and as more and more people pick up the skills more and more of them have proven willing to share them with others. We can’t claim it’s the origin of the expression “learning the ropes,” but at the very least it’s a happy coincidence.
Join an assorted and knowledgeable crew of rope enthusiasts as they take over this multi room house and turn it into a veritable Gordian knot of bondage rooms – in fact there are no fewer than 7 different rooms to get your rope on in.
No experience is necessary in order to attend. You will need to contact the host in order to attend, and you can do so via his Fetlife profile. For those not in the know, Fetlife is the social network for the kinky set, sort of Facebook for fetishists. A Fetlife membership (FREE) is necessary to view the site.
Saturday, December 21
Where: The Cobalt, 917 Main Street, Vancouver
Vancouver’s most outrageous gay dance party has something special planned for the holidays, with live acts by Rap Girl, an up and coming size positive queer feminist rapper from Portland, and Boy Funk, known for his supersonic raps, fashionz and comedic sass.
Hosted by Anna Propriette and Shada Leer, the night also features DJs Airick, G-Luve and Fingerbang.
So come check out the night that bills itself as “Hard Disco 4 Hard Homos & Their Lovers!”

Kitty Nights Holidays On Ice
Where: The Bilmtore Cabaret, 2755 Prince Edward Street, Vancouver
When: Doors 8:00pm Show 9:00pm
Regular readers of this column know that Kitty Nights, and now it’s spin off nights, are a regular staple here. That’s because when it comes to Hot & Sexy host The Purrrfessor and Burgundy Brixx always deliver the goods!
Joining them Sunday night for this festive night of burlesque are: Lydia DeCarllo, Ariel Helvetica, and from Edmonton special guest Electra Cute. Plus intermission features Go Go by Cara Milk, and it’s all followed up by a dance party with DJ Cherry On Top!
There’s plenty of great Hot Sexy parties happening on New Years Eve, and this year three of them feature a common theme: masquerade. (We mention it in case the title above didn’t give it away.)
NOIR Fetish Ball does it up in style in Vancouver’s most unique alternative venue, former funeral parlour Chapel Arts, for their Masquerade NYE. Their usual strict fetish dress code is still in effect, although for this evening’s party Hellfire London dress code is also allowed, meaning tuxedo or gown with a mask will also get you in the door in case you didn’t get that leather number you were hoping for this Xmas.
Club Eden, the lower mainlands best known swingers club is throwing a Great Gatsby Masquerade Ball. Head back to the 1920s as you arrive wearing your hottest new year’s threads of today, glamourous masquerade, or roaring 20s for a sinfully decadent evening of glitz, glamor and intrigue. In the spirit of Baz Luhrmann’s Great Gatsby expect an over the top party from the Eden crew!
The PumpJack Pub, Vancouver’s friendliest gay bar to Erotic Vancouver’s mind (managing editor Reive Doig used to work there) is also doing the masquerade theme for NYE. The night featurse the music of DJ Jay Douglas, and a complimentary midnight Champagne toast. And, as always, the night is cover free! Try to find a better priced party in the city!
That’s it for another weeks’ worth of Hot Sexy Events. Join us for an extended listing next week, which will cover December 23 right through until New Year’s Eve.
Until then, stay sexy!
